Each quarter one student from each class is selected by their teacher to receive this special award for outstanding Attitude, Citizenship and Effort. The students are presented with a certificate and treated to a special snack.
The Beautification Committee works year round to make the school look nice. This committee helps with the landscaping by planting flowers, weeding and pruning in the front of the school.
The Book Lunch Bunch program is open for all students in grades 1-5. The only requirement is a love of reading. A Book Lunch Bunch Leader meets once a week with a small group of students to discuss a story during the student’s lunch and recess. The materials are supplied by PTO and include several different classic stories.
The General Mills Box Tops for Education Program provides 10 cents for every box top collected. Our students rally together to collect over 35,000 box tops each school year. Since 2002 Lindsey Elementary has collected over $35,000! We are proud to be ranked in the 99th percentile of all participating Box Tops schools. The Box Tops program is simple; just cut off the designated box tops on products you use everyday and send them to school. Throughout the school year, we will have several contests to encourage students to bring in box tops. You can visit the Box Tops website at www.boxtops4education.com for a complete list of products.
The Drama Club produces an annual Lindsey musical for students in grades 2-5. Information about this year's play will be distributed when available.
The PTO Fund Raising Committee holds one major fundraiser at the beginning of each year. This fundraiser gives us the operating funds to support projects for our students. This year’s fundraiser will be a Lindsey walk-a-thon (Laps-4-Lindsey). The walk will be held September 23rd.
The Lindsey Book Club allows parents to purchase a book for the library as a special recognition for their child. A sticker is placed on the inside of the book cover with the student's name and the special event for which it was purchased. Cake and juice will be served at the end of the year for the students who belong to the Lindsey Book Club.
Helping in the Parent Volunteer Room is a great way to get involved and meet other parents. The group meets twice a month, or as needed, to work on projects such as simple cutting, laminating, or assembling packets. The extra "helping hands" allow the teachers the ability to do wonderful classroom projects with the students. You may come as often as your schedule permits.
Volunteering in your child's classroom is a great way to be involved at Lindsey. Room captains are the main contact person to the classroom teacher and are responsible for organizing the parent volunteers for their classroom. The parent volunteers may help at a holiday party, assist the teacher with a science project, go on a field trip, or work a game during Family Fun Day.
The Publicity Committee handles news releases, special bulletins to parents, and promotes Lindsey school related events through print media, the internet, and social media. Please check our website, www.rclindseypto.org, and our Facebook page, facebook.com/lindseypto regularly for updates.
The PTO Refreshment Committee coordinates food for our teachers during Parent-Teacher Conference evenings and other events throughout the year.
The Sunshine Committee is a wonderful group that provides help to families in our school that are having troubled times such as a serious health problem, a serious injury, or a death in the family. The committee provides meals for families and tries to meet other family needs.
Lindsey PTO holds a Scholastic Book Fair three times a year. The profits are used to purchase books for classroom libraries and the Lindsey school library. The book fair held at the end of the school year is a great chance to buy books for summer reading because it is Buy One Get One Free (B1G1F)!
Lindsey PTO sponsors Donuts at Dawn which gives students the opportunity to invite mom, dad, or a special person to have donuts with them at Lindsey. Guests are treated to a breakfast snack provided by PTO.
Family Fun Day is a carnival-like atmosphere with activities taking place outside and throughout the school. The event is geared for the whole family, young and old alike. We depend on parents to volunteer and run different games/activities to make this a success.
This welcoming group of Lindsey parents help new and returning students start off their school year right by guiding them to their classrooms the first week of school. The greeters also help with 1st grade orientation in May when Kindergarten students visit a 1st grade class and have their first lunch in the school cafeteria.
The Holiday Gift shop is a special winter event where students and younger family members can shop for holiday presents for their parents, siblings, grandparents or someone special. Many parent volunteers are needed to assist with purchases and to wrap presents.
Lindsey PTO sponsors Lunch with a Loved One each year for all students.
As a fundraiser, the PTO makes and sells fresh popcorn to the students one day of every month. Each bag is $.50. On select months, the kids can win prizes for finding a themed sticker on their bag. Click here for the 2017-2018 Popcorn Day schedule.
The PTO will host an Appreciation Night for all Lindsey families. Some past events were Science Night, Game Night and a dance.
PTO sponsors three Family Nights throughout the year like skate parties. Look for more information as the dates draw closer.
